Our priority as a teaching team is to foster a positive learning environment and a locally focused curriculum that motivates and connects our students. We value strong, learning-centered relationships with our community and are committed to building a confident, capable team of leaders and learners who embrace ako—learning from each other.

1. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L): We focus on reinforcing positive behaviour both at school and at home to support a thriving learning environment.

2. Local Curriculum: Our curriculum is designed around our community, creating meaningful connections and real-world relevance.

3. Community Engagement Events: We regularly host events to keep our community engaged and interested in our goals and practices.

4. Building Connections: We bring learning to life by connecting students with local places, people, and heritage—including our Màori communities, Matakohe Museum, and Totara House.

5. Brain-Based Classrooms: Our classrooms are designed to support how students learn best, fostering active, engaged minds.

6. Scaffolded Learning Across the School: We provide structured support for each child at their level, helping students grow confidently into new skills and knowledge.
