Stationery lists can be obtained from the office. To help reduce costs for families, we encourage the reuse of stationery from the previous year whenever possible. At the end of each year, your child's teacher will review the remaining supplies and send home a list of any additional items that need to be purchased.
Payments can be made at the office or directly to this bank account (available from the office). The required stationery will be selected from our supplies and delivered to your child's classroom.
Our school offers a free bus service that picks up children from designated points before school and returns them to the same locations after the school day. To ensure a safe and pleasant journey for everyone, students are expected to follow bus etiquette.
Students should remain seated, speak quietly, and be considerate of the driver and fellow passengers. If seat belts are available, they must be worn. A simple "thank you" to the driver when exiting the bus is always appreciated.
Please note that unsafe behaviour on the bus can compromise the safety of all passengers. The school reserves the right to remove students from the bus service if they do not follow these guidelines.
We offer freshly prepared, healthy lunches for every child each day. Our menu is thoughtfully designed to appeal to children's tastes while prioritizing nutritious ingredients and seasonal availability. All meals are prepared on-site by our chef, ensuring quality and freshness. Whenever possible, we incorporate produce from our school garden into the menu, allowing children to enjoy the rewarding experience of planting, nurturing, and finally eating the food they have helped grow.
All students are part of one of our four whānau groups: Tāne Mahuta, Tangaroa, Ranginui, and Papatūānuku. Each week, tokens earned by the groups are tallied and the results announced during our Friday afternoon assembly, recognising the students who exemplify our KAURI values: Kindness, Accountability, Unity, Respect, and Integrity, both in the classroom and on the playground.
Whānau groups play an important role in fostering a sense of community and belonging. They are not only essential for our weekly competitions but also contribute to the spirit of school-wide events such as sports days. This structure also supports our tuākana/tēina culture, where older and younger students learn from and support each other.
Your child can start school or kura in New Zealand between age five and six. All children must be enrolled at school by their sixth birthday. Once your child has started at school or kura, they must go to school every day. This is a change from the earlier rule, where regular attendance was required only from age six. Enrolling early helps our school with planning. Simply connect with us to enrol your child, decide on a time for your child to start and arrange some visits to get your child used to their new class.
Contact the office to start the enrolment process. Typically you will need the following information:
a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport as proof of age
a copy of their immunisation certificate (this is in the back of your Well Child book or ask your family doctor for a copy)
medical information including your doctor’s contact details
any legal documents, for example, custody or access agreements the school should know about
contact details: your family phone numbers and address and someone the school or kura can call in an emergency if they can’t get hold of you.
