We had the most wonderful afternoon celebrating the art of public speaking at our school speech competition. Our youngest tamariki impressed us with their confident recital of poems, while the older students delivered thoughtful and well-prepared speeches. Each student had clearly spent time memorising their piece and developing their presentation skills—and it showed!
Our judge, Miss Yvonne Hartnell, shared how much she had learned from listening to the speeches and praised the effort and quality of every performance. The topics this year were diverse and engaging:
Years 0–4: What Is a Hero? and It’s the Little Things That Make a Difference
Years 5–6: Why Living in the Country Is Better Than Living in the City
Years 7–8: Artificial Intelligence
We are incredibly proud of all our contestants. Their confidence, preparation, and delivery made for a truly memorable afternoon. Ka mau te wehi!
